The 2017 Premier’s Recognition Award has been presented to Melbourne business eWater Systems’ in recognition for their development of chemical-free ‘water splitting’ technology that can be implemented and used to clean and sanitise facilities such as hospitals, schools, manufacturing businesses and restaurants.
Now in its 15th year, the Premier’s Sustainability Awards recognises individuals, organisations and businesses that are devoted and invested in creating a more sustainable and cleaner world. In receiving the most prestigious accolade awarded for sustainability in Victoria each year, eWater Systems were celebrated for their innovation in sustainability and their leadership and determination in making a beneficial difference to the environment.
In 2016, eWater Systems prevented the use of seven million litres of chemicals and diverted 10 million plastic containers from landfills whilst also reducing the carbon footprint and environmental impact caused by chemical plant manufacturing and product transportation.
The organisation also seeks to increase awareness of the detrimental impact of chemicals on our environment, human health and climate change. Furthermore, the organisation seeks to invest in developing and providing safe technology for businesses, enabling them to meet targets for sustainability and workplace health and safety.
eWater Systems, a Melbourne-based small business, has also been recognised among the world’s best globally certified sustainable businesses by B Corp, which requires companies to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. As of today, it is the only business in Australia to be recognised in the chemicals/cleaning products category.
